Greetings from the Building Code Official
The Building Code Official provides permitting for all commercial and residential projects within the City of Butler. The Building Permit Office is located in City Hall, 140 W. North St. on the SECOND FLOOR.
Our goal is to provide an effective and efficient way to provide general information about the Building Permit Office: develop, update and maintain informational handouts on the process for obtaining permits; and provide information on the operation of the Building Permit Office.
The Building Permit office provides a single location for customers to obtain necessary information about permitting for commercial and residential properties in the City of Butler. The Building Permit Office may be reached by calling 724-285-4124, Ext 213.
The Building Permit Office has two separate divisions; Commercial Building Division and Residential Building Division.
The Commercial Building Division is responsible for reviewing permit applications for compliance with all applicable state and local building codes and regulations. These include building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing; disabled accessibility, and energy efficiency codes and standards. The division also provides field inspections through a third party agency, and an in-house plumbing inspector, on all permits issued to verify compliance with these codes, and insure that new construction in Butler is constructed in accordance with the highest standards of safety. Please see Commercial Building Division at Commercial Building Division.
The Residential Building Division performs a similar function but with all reviews and inspections done in-house with the exception of electrical inspections. Please see Residential Building Division at Residential Building Division.
The Building Permit Office also issues required permits for the Code Enforcement Division in regard to Property Maintenance issues.
