  • Pennsylvania American Water-Customer Advisory Map

    Pennsylvania American Water Launches Customer Advisory Map

    Mechanicsburg, Pa. (Apr. 18, 2022) – Pennsylvania American Water announced today that a new customer advisory map is live on the company’s website. This user-friendly map allows Pennsylvania American Water customers to view any active water service disruptions, planned service outages, hydrant flushing notices or boil water advisories within their area. A link to the customer advisory map can be found on the home page and the Alerts page of the company’s website.

    “We are committed to providing exceptional customer service and are continually seeking ways to improve our communication around outages and advisories,” said Jim Runzer, vice president of operations at Pennsylvania American Water. “This customer advisory map is a helpful tool that allows customers to view events happening in their area that may impact their water service.”

    Customers now can search by address to determine if they are located within an alert area and can view additional information such as estimated time of restoration and steps to take when under an advisory.

    “This information has always been available to our customers but never in such an easy-to-use fashion,” added Runzer. “We developed this robust tool through feedback from our customers, and we continue to welcome that feedback to improve our delivery of exceptional customer service.”

    Customers are encouraged to log onto MyWater and make sure their account information is up to date to receive phone, text and email alerts about issues potentially impacting their service. Contact information and alert settings can be customized within the customer’s MyWater account.

    Last year, Pennsylvania American Water announced an online outage reporting customer service enhancement that enables customers to report outages or urgent water service issues online by clicking on the “Report Emergency” icon on the top right of the home page or at emergency.amwater.com.

    MINUTES
    City Council Meeting
    City of Butler, Pennsylvania
    April 21, 2022, 7PM

    Agenda:  2022 Agenda April 21

    Mayor Dandoy called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.  Mayor Dandoy and Council members Shearer, Christy and Herr were present. The pledge of allegiance to the flag followed an invocation given by Fr. David Hicks, St. Peter’s Anglican Church.

    PRESENTATIONS:

    Mayor Dandoy read a Proclamation presented to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks to designate May 1-7, 2022, as “Elks National Youth Week”.

    Motion by Mayor Dandoy with a second from CM Shearer to approve the agenda for the regular meeting of April 21, 2022.

    Councilman Shearer made a motion to strike motion number 2. Motion to approve the recommendation of our consultant (BidURenergy) and enter into the contract with AEP Energy to be the City’s electrical supplier for a period of 36 months beginning November, 2022 through December, 2025 at a contract rate of $0.07185. (current rate is $0.04936)  (alternate 12 month contract at $0.08589).

    Second by CM Christy.  All voted aye.

    With above motion stricken, all voted aye to approve the agenda.

    Motion by Mayor Dandoy with a second from CM Shearer to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of March 24, 2022.  All voted aye.

    In accordance with the provisions of Section 10801 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes – Title 11, motion to appoint Frederick W. Reese to the position of City Council to fill the vacancy created by the death of Michael E. Walter for a term to expire on the first Monday in January 2024.  Motion by Councilman Herr.  Second by Mayor Dandoy. All voted aye.

    Motion by Mayor Dandoy with a second from CM Shearer to acknowledge receipt of the monthly minutes from RACB, including the CDBG/HOME Program activities. All voted aye.

    MONTHLY & ANNUAL DEPARTMENT REPORTS

    Motion to accept the monthly reports from the Office of the City Clerk, the Police Department, Fire Department, Office of Business & Community Development/Code Enforcement, Department of Public Works and Parking Department for the month of March. Motion by Mayor Dandoy. Second by CM Christy.  All voted aye.

    Councilman Shearer

    1.Motion to approve a payment in the amount of $4,362.40 to the County of Butler for debt service for the Butler County Infrastructure Loan Payment. (Note: This payment is for the current interest; due May 1st.)   Second by CM Herr.  All voted aye.

    Councilman Christy

    2.Motion to approve a Department of Veterans Affairs Mutual Firefighting Assistance Agreement. Second by CM Shearer.  All voted aye.

    3.Motion to authorize the city clerk to advertise for bids to replace the in-line 6 cyl. 9L engine on a 2011 Spartan Metro Star chassis (Engine 1-2, as operated by the Bureau of Fire) with an ENG ISL 8.9 07B 280@2200. Second by CM Shearer.  All voted aye.

    4.Motion to approve the lease agreement with Butler County YMCA for the use of the Pickle Ball court 1 – 6 and parking lots adjacent hereto in Ritts Park beginning June 1, 2022 until September 14, 2022. Second by CM Shearer.  All voted aye.

    5.Motion to enter into an agreement with the Butler Fastpitch Association to lease the T-Ball Field in Memorial Park commencing April 1, 2022 through October 31, 2022.  Second by CM Christy.  All voted aye.

    6.Motion to approve an agreement with the Butler Midget Football League for the 2022 season. Second by CM Christy.  All voted aye.

    7.Motion to approve the agreement with the County of Butler for the County of Butler, Park Renovation Grant Program. Second by CM Shearer.  All voted aye.

    8.Motion to approve closing Main Street from Wayne Street to West Pearl Street, as well as side streets from Main to Washington and McKean Streets, for the Cruise-A-Palooza event, sponsored by the Rodfathers of Butler, to be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM.   Second by CM Herr.  All voted aye.

    9.Motion to approve closing East Diamond Street for the America First Rally event, sponsored by the Butler PA Patriots, to be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM.   Second by CM Shearer.  All voted aye.

    10.Motion to approve closing Main Street from West Pearl Street to Wayne Street for the Memorial Day Parade, sponsored by Veterans Services, to be held on Monday, May 30, 2022 from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM.  Second by CM Herr.  All voted aye.

    11.Motion to approve closing Main Street from Wayne Street to West Penn Street for the Butler Fall Festival event, sponsored by the Butler Fall Festival of Butler, to be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM.   Second by CM Herr.  CM Shearer abstained.  CM Christy, CM Herr and Mayor Dandoy voted aye.

    12.Motion to approve City Resolution No. 2022-04-21; the City of Butler’s Fair Housing Resolution. Second by CM Shearer.  All voted aye.

    13.Motion to consent to the sale of 112 Kittanning Street.- 0.04 AC, Butler City, Ward 2, to be sold from the Butler County Repository by the Butler County Tax Claim Bureau to Mark Harvey (tax parcel 562-25-23-0000) in the amount of $600.00. Second by CM Christy.  All voted aye.

    14.Motion to authorize the city clerk to approve all tax parcel sale requests from the Butler County Repository by the Butler County Tax Claim Bureau. Second by CM Christy.  All voted aye.

    15.Motion to install two “No Parking Here to Corner” signs on the south side of West New Castle St. at the intersection of Wagner Ave. on a 90-day trial basis. Second by CM Shearer.  All voted aye.

    16.Motion to approve Pennsylvania Heart & Lung Act benefits for Sergeant Jeremy Walters beginning on July 8, 2021, for a work-related injury he sustained on December 14, 2018. Second by CM Shearer.  All voted aye.

    The City Treasurer presented a Monthly Intake Report for March 2022.

    The City Controller presented bills for payment as follows: from the general fund – $520,673.11; from the parking fund – $43,118.04; from the capital projects fund – $4,155.75 and from the liquid fuels tax fund – $13,979.11; for a grand total of $581,926.01.  Motion by Mayor Dandoy with second from CM Shearer to approve payment of bills as presented.  All voted aye.

    April Public Announcement – Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4)

    As part of an ongoing education plan, we would like to remind local residents that when walking your pet, remember to pick up the waste and dispose of it properly. Flushing pet waste is the best disposal method. Leaving the waste on the ground increases public health risks by allowing harmful bacteria and nutrients to wash into storm drains and eventually into the local streams.

    Also, if you plan on washing your vehicle, use a commercial car wash if possible. Car washes are setup to treat or recycle the wastewater. If you want to wash your vehicle, pull the car onto a lawn area to wash it. This way, all of the soap and water will infiltrate into the ground. Try not to wash the car on a paved surface as all the runoff will flow onto the street and into a nearby storm sewer. Soaps, wax, and other chemicals used to clean cars are toxic to fish and aquatic organisms.

  • 2022 Spring Leaf Collection

    The City of Butler’s Curbside Collection Service is now available through May 13, 2022.  This service is only for leaf collection and is provided by the City’s Streets Department.  Residents may call the Streets Department at 724-285-8440 when their leaves are ready for collection or for more information.
