City of Butler, Pennsylvania

Forms required to apply for the position of entry-level, full-time police officer are available at the City Building, 140 West North St., Butler, PA 16001.  The City Building is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Call (724)   285 – 4124, extension 201 for additional information.

Completed applications must be returned to the Office of the City Clerk not later than 4:00 p.m. on September 23, 2016.  Applications received after that time will be rejected.

A physical agility test and a written examination will be held on October 7, 2016 at 9:00 a.m., at the Allegheny County Police Academy, 700 West Ridge Drive, Allison Park, PA.  Applicants must arrive by 8:30 a.m. You should report to the test site wearing attire that is appropriate for the physical agility test. A written examination will be given only to applicants who pass the physical agility test. Other mandatory components of the test for eligible applicants (based on their physical agility test and written test scores) include an oral examination, a background investigation, a medical examination and a psychological examination. Applicants for the police department must have completed Act 120 Training.  A complete copy of the City’s hiring policy, as set forth in its Civil Service Rules and Regulations, is available in the Office of the City Clerk for inspection during regular business hours.
