City Special Council Meeting
City of Butler, Pennsylvania
June 18, 2020 10am via Zoom Meeting
This special meeting is to discuss the parking system.
Mayor Smith called the meeting to order at 10:03 AM. Mayor Smith and Council members Walter, Smith, Bonus and Dandoy were present.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the City of Butler’s Parking System and to develop a plan for repairs, maintenance and enhancement. The mechanical meters must be replaced with modern kiosks. There was also discussion about placing kiosks on Main Street. There was discussion about increasing parking rates. The garages are in need of maintenance. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a stall in about everything, but council will continue to review and plan for the future.
After much discussion, there will be a five year plan that will include a plan to pay for repairs, moving mechanical meters to kiosks, and ongoing maintenance.
PERSONS TO BE HEARD:
County Commissioner Kevin Boozel commended council for taking the time to discuss only the parking issue and to develop a long term plan. He said to contact the commissioners and they will do all they can to help.
Mayor Smith adjourned the meeting at 11:31 AM.
