Assistant Zoning Officer Clerk
The City of Butler is seeking to hire an Assistant Zoning Officer Clerk to work in the Office of Business and Community Development in the City Building. The successful applicant must have an Associate’s Degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school or two years of related office experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and a Windows operating system is required. Knowledge of construction is helpful but not required. Civil Service Testing
Entry-level, Full-time Police Officer
The civil service application required to apply for the position of entry-level, full-time police officer is available at the City Building, 140 West North St., Butler, PA 16001 or by clicking the link below. The City Building is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday except holidays. Completed applications must be returned to the Office of the City Clerk not later than 4:00 p.m. on June 11, 2026. Applications received after that time will be rejected.
A physical agility test and a written examination will be held on June 18, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., at the Allegheny County Police Academy, 700 West Ridge Drive, Allison Park, PA. Applicants must arrive by 8:00 a.m. A written examination will be given on to applicants who pass the physical agility test. Other mandatory components of the test for eligible applicants (based on their physical agility test and written test scores) include an oral examination, a background investigation, a medical examination, a vision examination and a psychological examination.
Applicants will successfully be Pennsylvania Act 120 Certified under the provisions of the Municipal Police Officer’s Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) and may be currently enrolled in ACT 120 program to take the exam or will have successfully competed Act 120 Certification Training and successfully passed the final exam prior to hiring.

Entry-level, Part-time Firefighter
