LEAF DUMP AT MEMORIAL PARK
Beginning Saturday November 2, 2024, Butler City residents can dispose of their fallen leaves at Memorial Park. A designated area will be open from 8am to 2pm weekdays and 9am to 5pm weekends and holidays.
Signs will direct visitors to the leaf dumping area. Only leaves can be dumped there, not other garbage or clippings. The area will be open for leaf dumping through the second week of December.
SPOTTED LANTERNFLY QUARANTINE:
PDA announced on Friday that Butler County had been added to the spotted lanternfly quarantine zone. https://www.media.pa.gov/Pages/Agriculture_details.aspx?newsid=1302
Penn State Extension has a lot of great resources: https://extension.psu.edu/spotted-lanternfly
An SLF permit is required for all businesses, agencies and organizations, agricultural and non-agricultural, working within the quarantine, which move regulated articles, such as products, vehicles and other conveyances, within or from the quarantine. A permit is also required to move regulated articles into any part of PA from areas with established SLF populations. https://extension.psu.edu/how-you-can-comply-with-the-spotted-lanternfly-quarantine-regulations
Here is a video that would be good to share on county websites and Facebook pages that would help citizens become aware: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uin0GECoi4A&t=8s
The best thing we can do is become aware of them and do our part to combat them.
