City Council Meeting
City of Butler, Pennsylvania
July 7, 2020 7pm via Zoom Meeting (prior to approval)
Mayor Smith called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Mayor Smith and Council members Walter, Smith, Bonus and Dandoy were present. The pledge of allegiance to the flag followed an invocation given by Councilman Dandoy.
PERSONS TO BE HEARD:
PRESENTATION – Tim Morgus, Maher Duessel presented the City’s 2019 Annual Audit
Motion by Mayor Smith to approve the agenda for the regular meeting of July 7, 2020. Second by CM Bonus. Motion by Mayor Smith to amend the agenda as follows:
Motion to add the motion to reappoint Derek Delaney to the City of Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds & Facilities Authority for a 5 year term which expires January 1, 2025. Second by CM Walter. All voted aye. Agenda amended.
Motion by Mayor Smith with a second from CM Bonus to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of June 23, 2020. All voted aye.
COUNCIL REPORTS/ACTIONS
Councilman Walter
- Motion to approve a payment in the amount of $1,012,032.22 to NexTier Bank for the 2020 Tax Revenue Anticipation Note. $1,000,000.00 Principal (LIN 01 472 601) & $12,032.22 Interest (LIN 01 472 600) – Payoff Date – July 10, 2020; maturity date is July 31, 2020. Second by Mayor Smith. All voted aye.
Councilman Bonus
- Motion to approve a block party on Linden Street on Saturday, July 11, 2020 from noon to 9:00 PM. Second by Mayor Smith. All voted aye.
Councilman Dandoy
- Motion for the introduction and first reading of City Ordinance No. 1786, an ordinance of the City of Butler amending part three, Chapter 57 (Firefighters Pension Plan) of the codified ordinances of the City of Butler to incorporate changes resulting from a grievance settlement agreement by including the addition of interest the City would have been required to pay for the calculation of the purchase of military service credit. Second by CM Bonus. All voted aye.
Mayor Smith
- Motion to accept the amended resignation of Patrol Officer William Dobson from the Butler City Police Department effective July 4, 2020. Second by CM Dandoy. All voted aye.
- Motion to reappoint Derek Delaney to the City of Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds & Facilities Authority for a 5 year term which expires January 1, 2025. Second by CM Walter. All voted aye.
The City Controller presented bills for payment as follows: from the general fund – $1,233,826.98; from the parking fund – $4,556.94; from the capital projects fund – $4,177.00; and from the liquid fuels tax fund – $8,763.30; for a grand total of $1,251,324.22. Motion by Mayor Smith with second from CM Bonus to approve payment of bills as presented. All voted aye.
Mayor Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:59 PM.
